If there’s one TV genre that I subconsciously avoid, it’s the “lawyer show” — those case-of-the-week procedurals and pulpy courtroom dramas have simply never done it for me. But I did recently find a successful (and surprising) entry point that might just have changed my mind on the law-show genre: “Fisk.”

Unlike “The Good Wife” and “Good Fight” and such, “Fisk” eschews gavel-banging dramatics for deliciously dry Aussie humor and everyday office absurdities, following a no-nonsense corporate lawyer working at a low-budget probate law firm in Melbourne. It’s more on par with “The Office” than “Matlock.”
