The Xiaomi 18 Pro could cost almost as much as last year’s Ultra, and that’s a problem

Xiaomi built its name on flagship specs without the flagship price tag, so this leak about its Xiaomi 18 Pro series stings a little more than most.
Leaked European pricing puts the Xiaomi 18 Pro at €1,449 and its Pro Max sibling at €1,849. For those catching up, that’s nearly double what these phones cost in China.
What will the Xiaomi 18 Pro cost in Europe?
YTECHB claims that the Xiaomi 18 Pro could cost €1,449 (about $1,628) for the baseline variant with 12GB of RAM and 256GB of storage, or €1,649 (about $1,852) with 512GB. The Xiaomi 18 Pro Max, on the other hand, might cost €1,849 (about $2,078) for the only 512GB storage variant.
What jumped out at me immediately is that Xiaomi launched the 17 Ultra in Europe at €1,499. So, the Pro would sit just €50 below it. Of course, the outlet blames rising memory and storage chip costs.
Xiaomi hasn’t confirmed any of this. Further, no global launch date exists yet. So treat the prices as rumors.
How do the batteries compare with China’s?
The Chinese versions of the Xiaomi 18 Pro and 18 Pro Max feature 7,000 mAh and 8,500 mAh batteries, respectively. However, Europe’s EPREL listings, the EU’s energy-label database, unveil 6,000 mAh and 7,050 mAh instead.
This isn’t the first time a phone has left China with a smaller battery, and international regulations are to blame. In lab testing, the Pro lasts 66 hours 30 minutes and the Pro Max 70 hours 40 minutes (estimated overall endurance), and both are rated to hold 80% of capacity over 1,000 cycles.
The outlet also says the 18 Pro’s wired charging falls from 100W to 90W, but the Pro Max holds at 100W. Both keep 50W wireless. However, if you ask me, I’d wait for Xiaomi’s own numbers before budgeting.
In Europe, the Xiaomi 17 started at €999 and the Xiaomi 17 Ultra at €1,499 (no Pro). So the Ultra is the yardstick, and if the leaked prices are any indication, the 18 Pro sits awkwardly beside it.
