I can’t believe we’re almost in June! Yes, that means summer is just around the corner. But a new month also brings the usual streaming churn, and a handful of great movies are about to vanish from Prime Video. As someone who is constantly adding films to their watchlist, I understand the frustration of never getting through it all, but it becomes even more urgent when you know something good is about to disappear.
If you’ve been putting off your movie nights, the clock is officially ticking. To save you from the endless scrolling, we’ve rounded up the absolute best movies to stream on Prime Video right now before they leave the platform at the end of May.
‘Mickey 17’ (2025)
One of the weirdest movies I watched last year was “Mickey 17.” I went into an early screening knowing almost nothing about it, and that turned out to be the best way to experience it. The sci-fi weirdness was a little daunting at first, but I had an absolute blast as the story slowly unraveled. This film is a high-concept sci-fi black comedy that also marks a major cinematic milestone: it is the first English-language feature from South Korean auteur Bong Joon Ho since his historic, Best Picture-winning triumph with “Parasite.”
Mickey Barnes is a man who joins a dangerous space colonization mission after falling into serious debt on Earth. Assigned the role of an “Expendable,” Mickey is sent on deadly assignments knowing that every time he dies, a new clone of him is regenerated with most of his memories intact. While exploring the icy planet Niflheim, Mickey 17 is presumed dead, leading the crew to create Mickey 18. But when Mickey 17 unexpectedly survives and returns, the two versions of Mickey are forced to coexist in secret.

‘Borderline’ (2025)
Another bizarre movie I watched in 2025 was “Borderline,” a comedy-thriller inspired by real-life celebrity stalker cases from the 1990s, most notably the terrifying ordeal faced by Madonna in 1996. It’s directed by Jimmy Warden, who previously made a splash in Hollywood by writing the famously unhinged 2023 horror-comedy “Cocaine Bear.” The film largely hinges on the chemistry between Samara Weaving and Ray Nicholson, and the pair absolutely nail the dark humor while keeping the thriller elements tense and entertaining.
“Borderline” follows Sofia Minor (Weaving), a famous pop star whose life is thrown into chaos when an obsessive fan named Paul (Nicholson) escapes from a mental institution and breaks into her mansion. Convinced that the two are destined to be married, Paul takes Sofia hostage and transforms her home into the setting for his twisted wedding fantasy. Sofia must rely on her loyal bodyguard Bell (Eric Dane) and her boyfriend Rhodes (Jimmie Fails) to survive the increasingly violent and unpredictable night.

‘The Place Beyond the Pines’ (2013)
If you’re in the mood for an overlooked crime drama, “The Place Beyond the Pines” should absolutely be on your watchlist. The film’s most defining feature is its unconventional three-act structure. Instead of intercutting between storylines, it tells three separate stories sequentially, with each one naturally flowing into the next. It’s a fascinating format, and director Derek Cianfrance uses it to show how one desperate decision can completely reshape the lives of others for years to come.
Luke Glanton (Ryan Gosling) is a motorcycle stunt rider who discovers he has a young son with his former lover, Romina (Eva Mendes), while passing through Schenectady, New York. Determined to support them, Luke abandons his carnival job and begins robbing banks with the help of a local mechanic. His crimes eventually put him on a collision course with ambitious rookie police officer Avery Cross (Bradley Cooper). The consequences of their encounter ripple across years.

‘Inside Man’ (2006)
You can’t really go wrong with a Spike Lee film, and one of his best crime thrillers is “Inside Man.” It stands out as a unique entry in Lee’s filmography because he’s typically known for deeply political, uncompromising dramas like “Do the Right Thing” and “Malcolm X.” With “Inside Man,” though, he took on a slick Hollywood studio script and delivered what many consider one of the greatest bank heist movies ever made. The film grossed more than $186 million worldwide and remains Lee’s highest-grossing movie to date.
“Inside Man” follows Detective Keith Frazier (Denzel Washington), a New York hostage negotiator called to handle a tense bank robbery in Manhattan. The mastermind behind the heist, Dalton Russell (Clive Owen), carefully controls the situation as armed robbers disguise themselves among the hostages, making it nearly impossible for police to identify who is who. Influential fixer Madeline White (Jodie Foster) becomes involved on behalf of the bank’s powerful founder, who is desperate to protect the contents of a particular safe deposit box.

‘The Hurt Locker’ (2009)
At the 82nd Academy Awards, “The Hurt Locker” won six Oscars, including Best Picture, and made Kathryn Bigelow the first woman ever to win the Academy Award for Best Director. It’s a relentless, nerve-shredding war drama that explores the psychologically intense (and, at times, borderline addictive) nature of extreme danger. While it faced some minor criticism for taking creative liberties with standard military protocols, it’s still widely regarded as one of the most gripping and effective portrayals of modern combat ever put to film.
The Elite U.S. Army Explosive Ordnance Disposal team is stationed in Baghdad during the Iraq War. After their staff sergeant is killed during a mission, reckless and highly skilled bomb technician William James (Jeremy Renner) is assigned to lead the unit. His unpredictable methods immediately clash with the cautious approaches of Sergeant J.T. Sanborn (Anthony Mackie) and Specialist Owen Eldridge (Brian Geraghty) as they make their way through increasingly dangerous missions.
