Bowers & Wilkins’ pricey 800 Series Diamond D5 speakers are now available to buy

Three months after their debut at HIGH END Vienna, Bowers & Wilkins’ 800 Series Diamond D5 speakers are now available to buy. The seven-model range arrives during the company’s 60th anniversary year and replaces the outgoing D4 generation.

The lineup includes the 805 D5 stand-mount speaker, four floorstanding models, and two center-channel speakers for home theater systems. At the top sits the 801 D5, while the HTM81 D5 and HTM82 D5 handle center-channel duties.

The cheapest stereo model is still $15,000

Getting into the new D5 stereo lineup isn’t cheap. The 805 D5 starts at $15,000 per pair, while the flagship 801 D5 reaches $65,000. Here’s the full U.S. pricing:

The speakers come in Stealth Black, Warm White, Light Walnut, and Dark Walnut finishes. Bowers & Wilkins has also tightened panel gaps, hidden more of the cabinet fixings, and revised several exterior details compared to the D4 range.

There are plenty of changes inside too

As we covered when the 800 Series Diamond D5 debuted in June, much of the engineering work focuses on controlling unwanted vibration and cabinet resonance.

A new Space Frame Bracing system reinforces the cabinets from the rear, while stronger Matrix bracing surrounds the individual drive units. The floorstanding models also use redesigned aluminum plinths with tuned-mass damping.

The 804 D5 gets a separate aluminum enclosure for its Continuum Cone FST midrange driver. Bowers & Wilkins has also revised the Diamond Dome tweeter grille, drive-unit motor systems, crossover components, and internal wiring across the range. The 800 Series Diamond D5 is available now through Bowers & Wilkins dealers.
