Forza Horizon 6 PS5 Launch Reportedly Scrubbed for 2026

Forza Horizon 6 has reportedly had its previous PlayStation 5 launch window scrubbed, with the celebrated Xbox racer no longer likely to release in 2026.
That’s according to The Verge senior reporter Tom Warren, who wrote on X/Twitter today that he no longer expected the port to arrive before the end of this year. IGN also understands this to be accurate.
As of yet, however, Xbox has not formally announced any change to its plans to launch Forza Horizon 6 on PS5. IGN has contacted the company for comment.
Recent months have seen a noticeable shift in emphasis by Xbox, as the company pulls back from some of its multiplatform efforts. Logos for the PS5 and Switch 2 are noticeably absent from some of Xbox’s recent game trailers (after their inclusion was dubbed a “miss” by Xbox boss Asha Sharma back in May). A month later, it was reported that Xbox had pulled a trailer for Halo: Campaign Evolved from Sony’s June PlayStation State of Play broadcast at the last minute. And, of course, both Gears of War: E-Day and Clockwork Revolution have now been confirmed to be permanent Xbox console exclusives.
Sharma previously said that the company would honor the multiplatform launch of any title it had previously announced — such as for Forza Horizon 6, or the just-released Halo: Campaign Evolved. However, no promise was made for when these ports would actually arrive, or how they would be prioritized or promoted.
There’s no suggestion that Forza Horizon 6’s PS5 port has been scrapped outright, then (and indeed, the game will likely sell very well when it hits Sony’s console). But a delay would certainly fit with Xbox’s recent shift in focus, back to promoting its own consoles as the starting point to play its own games, and a push for the remainder of this year on October’s Gears of War: E-Day.

And then, of course, there’s the GTA 6 issue. After October, few games are daring fit their release around what is likely to be the best-selling game of the console generation, let alone this year. The November launch of Rockstar’s long-awaited blockbuster, is heavily tied to Sony and its PS5 console through marketing deals. Even the stellar Forza Horizon 6 would likely best avoid such a hubbub.
Whenever Forza Horizon 6 does arrive on PS5, though, fans of Playground Games’ racing series have a lot to look forward to. “The new standard in open-world racing is here, and it’s a gundamn masterpiece,” IGN wrote in our Forza Horizon 6 review, which returned a perfect 10/10 score.
