For creators and small businesses, the appeal of 3D printing has always been the ability to turn a digital idea into a physical object. But as those projects become more ambitious, a conventional 3D printer can quickly become just one part of a much larger production process.

A creator might need one machine to produce a three-dimensional model, another to add graphics or textures to a flat surface, and yet another system for customized apparel. Moving between different machines adds cost, takes up workspace, and can make small-batch production more complicated than it needs to be.

HeyGears is taking a different approach with the G1X Series, a desktop printing platform that combines full-color 3D printing, 2D UV printing, and 3D-texture printing in one system. The platform can also expand into textile printing through True DTF and DTG capabilities, giving creators and small businesses a broader range of production options from a single desktop setup.

The idea is bigger than putting more features into a 3D printer. HeyGears wants the G1X to function as a compact production platform that can take an idea through different forms of physical output, whether that means a full-color figurine, a textured artwork, customized merchandise, or a printed garment.

One platform, several ways to create

The most important feature of the HeyGears G1X is its 3-in-1 printing architecture. In full-color 3D mode, the system is designed to produce detailed three-dimensional objects with smooth gradients and transparent effects. An 8-channel ink system, precise layer control technology, and an Epson I3200 industrial-grade printhead work together to produce detailed models with consistent color output. The maximum build volume for Full-Color 3D Mode is 420 × 330 × 130 mm.

That can change the workflow for creators who traditionally rely on manual finishing. Instead of printing a model and then painting it separately, the G1X is designed to produce the color as part of the printing process. Transparent and full-color components can also be combined within a continuous build.

But full-color 3D printing is only one part of the platform. The G1X’s UV printing capabilities allow users to work directly on a wide range of surfaces. In 2D and 3D-texture modes, the printer supports more than 10 million colors and resolutions of up to 1440 × 2400 DPI with G7 Colorspace highest-level certification. Its wide-gamut ink system includes Light Cyan and Light Magenta inks, helping it reproduce lighter and more subtle colors.

That makes the system relevant to projects that do not require a three-dimensional object at all. A creator could print artwork onto acrylic, wood, leather, glass, metal, ceramics, and other surfaces. The G1X supports more than 400 materials, while also supporting optical effects such as holographic and lenticular printing.

Then there is 3D-texture printing. The distinction is useful because texture printing and full-color 3D printing solve different problems. UV texture printing can create raised, tactile surface effects, while Full-Color 3D Mode is designed to create actual volumetric objects. The G1X supports 3D-texture builds up to 150 mm in height, with a recommended 5 mm height for optimal relief results.

For creators, that means the same platform can move between flat graphics, textured surfaces, and fully three-dimensional objects without requiring a completely different production setup.

This versatility becomes more interesting when viewed through the kinds of work that small businesses and creators actually do.

Hobbyists and small business owners can use full-color 3D printing to produce vibrant anime figurines, character sculptures, and realistic scale models. An artist can create textured artwork on wood or acrylic. A small online business can produce personalized merchandise in relatively small batches. A creator selling collectibles can produce detailed, full-color models without relying on manual painting for every piece.

And the G1X can go beyond hard surfaces. HeyGears has developed a dedicated water-based aqueous ink system that supports True DTF and DTG printing. True DTF, or Direct-to-Film, prints designs onto transfer film before they are transferred onto textiles, while DTG, or Direct-to-Garment, prints directly onto garments. The company positions both capabilities as ways for creators and small businesses to produce custom apparel and other textile products from the same platform.

Designed for production, not just experimentation

Adding multiple printing methods to one machine would not be particularly useful if operating it required constant maintenance. HeyGears has therefore put considerable attention into the G1X’s maintenance systems. The printer uses a quad-layer anti-clogging system that combines white-ink stirring, printhead heating, automated cleaning cycles, and a sealed moisturizing state intended to prevent the printhead from drying during extended periods of inactivity.

There are also three cleaning modes for different maintenance requirements. Jetting handles quick nozzle checks and minor recovery, Regular Cleaning is designed for everyday maintenance, and Deep Cleaning provides more thorough maintenance when changing printing modes or restarting after extended inactivity.

Speed is another area where HeyGears is positioning the G1X for production use. The system offers three UV printing configurations. Ultra-High-Speed Mode uses four white-ink channels and is claimed to deliver up to 12× faster printing than F1080-based UV printers in the company’s real-world testing. High-Speed Mode uses two white and two varnish channels and reaches at least 6x faster printing, while Wide-Gamut Mode uses wide-gamut inks including Light Cyan and Light Magenta and reaches at least 3x faster printing.

The choice between these modes reflects a practical tradeoff. Users can prioritize speed, balanced productivity, or color reproduction depending on what a particular job requires. The G1X also incorporates automatic calibration. Its vision system combines a line-scan camera, top-mounted wide-angle camera, and LiDAR to detect substrate contours, object position, height, and surface level, helping the printer align itself more precisely.

For businesses producing repeatedly, those details can matter just as much as headline print quality. The goal is to make the machine easier to integrate into a workflow where reliability and repeatability are important.

A desktop printer that can grow with the creator

The G1X also takes an expandable approach to production. Its modular design supports options including Rotary, Flatbed, Roll-to-Film, and Resin Station configurations. HeyGears also offers aqueous inks for textile printing, further extending the platform into apparel and fabric-based applications.

AI is another part of the workflow. Through HeyVerse AI and Blueprint Studio, the G1X can generate models from text or images and convert 2D visuals into 3D-texture outputs in a one-tap workflow. The idea is to shorten the distance between a creative concept and a printable design.

For complex full-color 3D models, the system also uses water-soluble supports. These are intended to reduce the manual post-processing involved in removing supports from hollow or intricate structures where access can be difficult.

The broader technology comes from a company with more than a decade of experience in digital manufacturing. Founded in 2015, HeyGears has worked across 3D-printing hardware, software, materials, and intelligent production solutions, with experience serving professional and industrial customers. The company says it has shipped more than 20,000 Reflex resin printer units and that its dental systems have supported more than 50 million patient cases.
