If you’re like me, you’re subscribed to many streaming websites, and one of those happens to be Amazon Prime. There are plenty of great shows on Amazon Prime, but one I love dearly and have had for many years is Invincible.
Running for four seasons at this point, Invincible has continued to be one of Prime’s best shows, and with excellent Rotten Tomatoes scores, it’s not slowing down any time soon. With the conclusion of season 4 of the series, there is still plenty to look forward to as the story continues. Here is everything that we know about Invincible season 5.
The story so far
The Viltrumites are here…
If you’ve been watching Invincible all this time, chances are you know a decent amount of the story so far. Mark Grayson is half human, half Viltrumite, and his father, Omniman (otherwise known as Nolan), was part of the Viltrumite Empire and sent to Earth not only to see if humans were breedable for Viltrumites but also to take over the planet.
Now, years later, Nolan is trying to fight back against the remaining Viltrumites alongside his son and several other superpowered individuals (and aliens, of course) in order to stop the reign of terror of the Viltrumites. While the Coalition of Planets (Nolan, Mark, his half-brother Oliver, and more) succeeds in destroying the home planet of the Viltrumites, we are given a major cliffhanger at the end of season 4.

Since the Viltrumites don’t have a planet, they have assimilated into Earth and will blend in with humans to repopulate their species. Thragg, the Grand Regent of the Viltrumite Empire, threatened Mark that if he tried to stop them, the remaining Viltrumites would destroy the planet, kill most of its civilians, and enslave the rest. Mark, having no choice, agrees to let them live in secret on the planet.
It’s a crazy cliffhanger and one that will most certainly make season 5 of Invincible that much more interesting.
What storylines will we see in season 5?
It’s about to go down!
There are plenty of great adaptations out there on TV, and Invincible happens to be one of them, as the series is adapted from the comics of the same name. There are several storylines that we’re following right now in the show, but some key ones are going to be diving into with season 5.
In the comics, a few other characters become major villains, including the Dinosaurs and Powerplex (who serves as Mark’s nemesis). Monster Girl and Robot also come back in the comics, and that was left kind of open-ended in the finale of season 4.
There are plenty of other storylines that might happen. Mark and Eve clearly need to reconnect after everything that has happened between them, and with Thragg and the Viltrumites on Earth, it’s going to cause even more pain.
The biggest storyline that we’ll most likely see is Allen the Alien struggling to come to terms with what to do with the Scourge Virus, the last of its kind left behind by the Betrayer, Thaedus. He could kill off the remaining Vilturmites with this virus but also risk the entire human race in the process. Allen the Alien becoming a villain? I, for one, am interested in this train of thought.

Who will be in the voice cast of season 5?
Expect familiar voices.
Invincible has seemingly had the exact same voice cast since the beginning of the show, so you can expect that we’ll no doubt be hearing them again for season 5. These include Steven Yeun as Mark, Sandra Oh as Debbie Grayson, J.K. Simmons as Nolan, and plenty of other A-list names.
When will Invincible season 5 release?
Keep an eye out for next year…
This is actually where we have some good news, because honestly, it’ll be sooner than you think. Remember when we had a couple of years’ wait between seasons 1 and 2, and then we had a two-part season for season 2? Well, that is most certainly not the case with season 5.
Turns out, season 5 is actually very much in the works—so much so that “final animation” is already being done on it, according to an interview that series creator Robert Kirkman did with Collider in March 2026:
“We’re getting final animation back and doing retakes. Putting the final touches on things.”
Kirkman commented in the same interview that the “voice recording” for season 5 is done—and has been for years now:
“The voice recording is done first, so that was done years ago. It’s crazy. We were talking the other day about how we were working on season 5 kind of while we were still promoting season 2. So, it stacks so much.”
When asked when we could expect season 5, Kirkman gave a more vague answer but said it would be within the realm of next year:
“Maybe May. Maybe January. I don’t know. Who knows? We’ll see. But I would say that the goal is to come back in this general timeframe…we’re pretty far into season 5, so we feel like we’re in good shape.”
With that in mind, we really will not be waiting long for the season to continue—and thankfully, it won’t be a multi-year wait like we’ve had with so many other streaming shows nowadays.
