Monster Hunter Rise could soon be making the jump to phones and tablets. Store pages for a new Monster Hunter Rise Netflix edition have appeared on Google Play and Apple’s App Store, pointing to an upcoming mobile release through Netflix Games.

Netflix will publish the mobile version, which will require an active membership despite being free to download. Neither store listing gives us a release date yet, but this appears to be the full game rather than a stripped-down mobile spin-off.

It’s a pretty big get for Netflix. Monster Hunter Rise originally launched on Nintendo Switch in 2021 before making its way to PC, Xbox, and PlayStation. Capcom recently confirmed that the game has now sold more than 20 million copies worldwide, making it one of the publisher’s biggest hits.

The full game, but with a few mobile tricks

The touchscreen interface has been adapted around individual weapon types, giving each one its own mobile control layout. Bluetooth controllers are also supported for anyone who would rather avoid touch controls altogether.

There is also a new Recovery Button designed to take some of the pressure out of item management during combat. It can automatically select and use an appropriate recovery item depending on your hunter’s health and current status. Challenge and Event Quests are handled differently as well. Instead of being distributed separately as temporary or paid content, they will unlock naturally as you progress through the game.

Netflix is getting a serious Monster Hunter release

The Netflix version will also come without ads or in-app purchases. For a service that has spent the past few years trying to figure out exactly what its gaming business should look like, Monster Hunter Rise is a substantial addition. Getting one of Capcom’s biggest recent releases gives Netflix Games considerably more weight than another smaller mobile title would.
