It’s been a busy first year at the Superhero Dispatch Network, and Dispatch is celebrating with a whole lot of new content. AdHoc Studio’s hit narrative adventure is getting two new behind-the-scenes modes, a mobile release date, and more.
The anniversary celebration arrives as Dispatch surpasses 5 million players. It gives fans plenty of reasons to clock back in for the superhero game, which is officially eligible for The Game Awards two years in a row.
New commentary and storyboard modes
Available now as a free update for Deluxe Edition owners, the game’s new Commentary Mode features more than 16 hours of insights from the game’s cast and crew. Players can hear from actors like Aaron Paul, Laura Bailey and Erin Yvette, and separate cast and crew commentary tracks span every episode. Different story choices also unlock distinct commentary.
The new Storyboard Mode lets players experience the entire game through its original storyboard animatics, offering a look at how the game’s cinematic scenes, performances, and visual storytelling came together. Players can even combine the two modes to listen to commentary while viewing the original storyboards.
“In our industry, it’s often really hard to showcase those people and how the development process actually works, but fortunately our game is very weird and specific and affords us some unique opportunities,” co-creative director Nick Herman said in a press release.
Both modes are included in the Deluxe Edition. Standard Edition owners can upgrade for $10.99.
Dispatch is coming to mobile
Players will be able to take their superhero management duties on the go when Dispatch launches for Android and iOS on Dec. 9. The mobile version has been rebuilt for touch controls and vertical play, with support for Google Play Games on PC.
The first four episodes will be available for free, and the full game will cost $19.99.
A live Dispatch concert and more
The anniversary celebration extends beyond the game itself. Dispatch: Night Shift, a one-night concert scheduled for Dec. 3 at Avalon Hollywood in Los Angeles, will feature composer Andrew Arcadi and the SDN Company Band alongside Thot Squad, Bershy, Primer, Caroline Kingsbury, and Fartbarf. Tickets will be extremely limited, with AdHoc Studio email subscribers getting first access.
Fans can also pick up new apparel, signed posters, and physical editions of the four comics previously included digitally with the Deluxe Edition. The upcoming Dispatch: Design Works hardcover book and collectible box, created with Lost In Cult, will offer a deeper look at the game’s development. Lost In Cult also has the game’s soundtrack available on vinyl.
Dispatch survived COVID-19 to evolve into one of 2025’s best games. It follows a former superhero who takes a desk job leading a team of ex-villain misfits. “It’s almost impossible not to commiserate with Robert Robertson III on some level, a person who’s lost everything and pursues a single goal in an almost suicidal manner, only for everything to go sideways almost immediately. Dispatch captures his personality to perfection,” Polygon’s Josh Broadwell wrote in his review.
With a new way to experience the story, now is as good a time as any to revisit Dispatch or check it out for the first time.
