This year’s Labor Day sales have officially begun and the first solid LEGO deal of the week has arrived. The 3-in-1 Haunted Mansion set has dropped to it’s lowest price ever on Amazon, now 20% off.

If you’ve been looking for a cool LEGO set to build this Halloween, this discount is absolutely worth a look. As a 3-in-1 set, this Haunted Mansion can also be converted into a Haunted Train or a Haunted ship.

LEGO’s Creator line produces some of my favorite sets because of just how versatile these builds are. Right out of the box you can choose to go in three different directions, and each build includes instructions. Seeing as this set is marketed as a Haunted Mansion, that is likely the only build that will use all 736 pieces.

If you do buy this set and only have one specific build in mind, I suggest you start with that one first. I built the 3-in-1 Medieval Horse Knight Castle last year and found it a bit challenging to convert it to a different set once I put together the first one. It’s certainly possible, but the instructions for each version of the set include which bag to open next, so once all of the bags are open you’re stuck with a big pile of bricks rather than being able to sort everything one bag at a time.

As for what you get with this Haunted Mansion set, it’s actually quite a bit for the price. It comes with five minifigures in total, including a skeleton, a ghost, Frankenstein, a vampire, and a werewolf holding a bone club. All of these classic Halloween monsters work best with the Haunted Mansion set, but I’m definitely partial to the Haunted Train build. They even gave the skeleton a little conductor hat just for this version of the set so he can feel official.

LEGO Icons: Mayor Manor

It’s a new month, which means there are a bunch of new LEGO sets releasing in September. One such set is the new LEGO Icons Mayor Manor. This is a much larger 18+ build that is a major upgrade over the smaller 3-in-1 set. It’s already on backorder at the LEGO Store, but you can also find it available on Amazon.

If you like the idea of a spooky mansion you can display on your shelf, Mayor Manor is the better option. It’s the first of LEGO’s new Midnight Valley Collection and utilizes asymmetrical elements and tilted angles to achieve higher levels of spook than ever before.
