Switch 2 players won’t have to wait too long for their patch

All platforms except the Nintendo Switch 2 have received fixes for The Witcher 3 following the launch of the remastered version on Sept. 29. Fans have appreciated developer CD Projekt Red’s commitment to make this free update to their award-winning game meet fans’ expectations, but it seems that Switch 2 users had been left behind. Thankfully, the developers have given some insight into the highly anticipated Switch 2 update.

On Oct. 9, CD Projekt Red released patch 5.01 for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt Remastered. It included much-needed changes and fixes, such as improved performance and bloom, and additional visual customization options. While the update significantly improved the state of the game, it was exclusive to PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S, which meant Switch 2 players were stuck with any problems caused by the remastered patch. In the patch notes, CD Projekt Red assured fans that it was still working on a patch for the Switch 2, and that new information would be coming soon.

The Witcher 3 Remastered Nintendo Switch 2 patch is coming ‘very soon’

Another patch rolled out for The Witcher 3 Remastered on Oct. 13. It was a small hotfix that increased stability and provided a better gameplay experience for players on PlayStation 5. Once again, Switch 2 players sat by as other platforms were prioritized. It wasn’t surprising when CD Projekt Red announced the PS5 hotfix on social media, and the comments were flooded with unhappy Switch 2 players — especially considering that there are now more Witcher 3 players on Switch 2 thanks to the game duplication exploit affecting cartridge owners.

CD Projekt Red was quick to reply to the disgruntled fans, letting them know that the update is “on the way” and that it “should have more information for those playing on Nintendo Switch 2 very soon.” This was a relief for many, as it reassured them that they wouldn’t have to wait much longer to enjoy the game in a better state. According to the v5.01 patch notes, the Switch 2 update will include all the improvements made to other platforms and fix Switch-specific issues regarding image clarity and sharpness.
