‘The Crash’ (2026)
Netflix subscribers can’t get enough true crime documentaries, and the latest one the streamer’s churned out wasted no time shooting to the top of the charts. “The Crash” centers on the 2022 case of Mackenzie Shirilla, a teenager from Ohio who crashed her car going approximately 100 mph into a brick building, killing both passengers on board: her boyfriend and his friend.
What at first seemed to be a tragic accident soon turned into a murder investigation. Prosecutors argued that Shirilla intentionally crashed the car as revenge against her boyfriend, while the defense claimed a medical emergency caused her to pass out at the wheel. The documentary explores the evidence surrounding the crash, including prison interviews with Shrilla, as well as the emotional fallout for everyone involved.

‘Goat’ (2026)
Even if you’re not a huge animation nerd, you’ve probably heard of Sony Pictures Animation, the studio behind behind last year’s global sensation “KPop Demon Hunters” and the “Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse” movies. The Oscar-winning studio is back with another gorgeous-looking adventure packed with big-name talent, including “Stranger Things” stars Caleb McLaughlin and David Harbour, Aaron Pierre, Nicola Coughlan, Patton Oswalt, Jelly Roll, and Stephen Curry.
In a sports-focused twist on “Zootopia,” “Goat” follows a small goat with big dreams (McLaughlin) of going pro in Roarball, a high-intensity mashup of basketball and rugby where only the fiercest predators in the animal kingdom dominate. When he finally gets his chance to shine, his underdog journey topples the sport’s long-standing belief that smalls don’t belong on the court.

If you loved Netflix’s documentary “My Octopus Teacher,” then the streamer’s latest feel-good mystery drama “Remarkably Bright Creatures” should be right up your alley. Adapted from Shelby Van Pelt’s best-selling novel, it’s a simple but endearing tale elevated by strong performances from its leads, including a surly Alfred “Doc Ock” Molina in a brilliant return to form.
Sally Field stars as Tova Sullivan, a widow working late-night shifts at an aquarium where she forms an unlikely connection with a giant Pacific octopus.
