3 best Apple TV shows you (probably) haven’t watched but should stream now
If you haven’t added Apple TV to your trusty bank of top streaming services, you’re missing out. The Apple-owned platform is home to some of the most popular and critically acclaimed shows around, including hit comedies like “Ted Lasso” and “Shrinking,” mind-bending sci-fi series like “Severance” and “Silo,” and buzzy new dramas like “Your Friends and Neighbors” and “Margo’s Got Money Troubles.”
But the sheer sprawl of that streaming selection means that you might have accidentally missed out on some seriously great but not-as-popular shows over the years. That’s where Tom’s Guide comes in: We’ve sorted through the options and come up with a rec list of originally overlooked but high-quality Apple TV series that deserved way more buzz than they got.
‘Sugar’
Created by Mark Protosevich (“The Cell,” “Oldboy”), this Apple TV neo-noir mystery stars Colin Farrell as the eponymous John Sugar, a private investigator recruited by a wealthy and powerful movie producer (James Cromwell) to examine the sudden disappearance of his granddaughter in Los Angeles. However, Sugar’s investigation into the missing persons case leads him to not only uncover deep-seated secrets in the City of Angels but also his own personal demons.
Smartly written and stylishly wrought, the addictive eight-episode mystery was renewed for a second season back in October 2024; new episodes are set to premiere on the Apple streamer on June 19, 2026. While the first season also featured Amy Ryan, Dennis Boutsikaris, Nate Corddry and Alex Hernandez, season two will star a new cast, with Jin Ha, Raymond Lee, Tony Dalton, Laura Donnelly, Sasha Calle, and Shea Whigham joining Farrell.

‘Physical’
You might already know Rose Byrne’s Apple TV+ comedy series “Platonic,” which unromantically pairs her up with real-life buddy Seth Rogen. But the Oscar-nominated star actually has another top-notch (albeit lesser-known) show on the Apple platform: “Physical”.
It’s a half-hour dark comedy starring Byrne as Sheila Rubin, a quietly tortured housewife living in 1980s San Diego and supporting her hyper-liberal husband’s bid for state assembly. Sheila is unhappy in her marriage and low on self-esteem after a lifelong battle with bulimia, but finds much-needed relief in an unexpected place: the world of aerobics. Created by Annie Weisman, the sweatband satire ran for three seasons on Apple TV.

‘Servant’
If you want your next Apple TV series with a side of chills and thrills, “Servant” might be the one for you. Created by Tony Basgallop (“To the Ends of the Earth”), with M. Night Shyamalan acting as both showrunner and executive producer, the psychological horror thriller focuses on wealthy Philadelphia couple Dorothy and Sean Turner — played by Lauren Ambrose and Toby Kebbell, respectively — whose marriage is crumbling under their own grief following the death of their thirteen-week-old son, Jericho.
Unable to accept the loss, the couple introduces a lifelike newborn doll and a young nanny (Nell Tiger Free) into their daily lives, not realizing that in doing so they’ve also opened the door to mysterious, supernatural forces.
