Best movies in the Netflix top 10
‘Apex’ (2026)
If you’re looking for a by-the-numbers adrenaline-fueled thriller, “Apex” is worth checking out this weekend. Director Baltasar Kormákur is no stranger to the genre, with thrillers like “Everest” and “Beast” under his belt, and he delivers another tense ride packed with danger and suspense that hits all the right notes. While the story isn’t anything to write home about, both Charlize Theron and Taron Egerton bring plenty of intensity with solid performances.
Theron stars as Sasha, an elite rock climber who heads to Australia to rebuild her life after a tragic mountaineering accident. She braves white-water rapids and steep cliffs, but her biggest challenge yet comes when a mysterious drifter (Taron Egerton) sets his sights on her, kicking off a brutal test of survival.

‘Swapped’ (2026)
I went into “Swapped” expecting a blatant knock-off of Pixar’s “Hoppers,” but it proved to have plenty of charm all its own. Rather than diving into sci-fi territory or environmental messaging, it plays out more like “Freaky Friday” set in the animal world for a lighthearted body-swap adventure with plenty of personality.
The story follows two animals who could not be more different: Ollie (played by Michael B. Jordan in his first post-Oscar role), an otter-like creature estranged from his family, and Ivy (Juno Temple), a confident bird of prey perched at the top of the food chain. The two come across some magical flora that traps them in each other’s body, forcing the two to form an uneasy alliance that blooms into something more as they race to prevent their fragile ecosystem from falling apart.

If you were smitten by Netflix’s documentary “My Octopus Teacher,” you’ll want to check out the streamer’s latest feel-good mystery drama: “Remarkably Bright Creatures.” Adapted from Shelby Van Pelt’s best-selling novel, it’s a straightforward but endearing tale buoyed by strong performances from its leads.
Sally Fielding stars as Tova Sullivan, a widow working late-night shifts at an aquarium where she develops an unlikely connection with a giant Pacific octopus. Another wrinkle arrives when a drifter (Lewis Pullman) shows up in town hoping to reconnect with the father he never really knew. As their lives becomes intertwined, the pair uncover a long-buried mystery that reignites imagination in them both.
