Why the Saatva Classic wowed our mattress testers
It’s comfortable in all sleeping positions
A mattress that works for all sleeping positions is rare. A bed that’s too soft causes the hips to sink when you’re back and stomach sleeping, resulting in a misaligned spine and potential pain. Too firm, and side sleepers risk excess pressure building at the hips, shoulders and knees.
That’s fine if you sleep alone, as you can pick a mattress for your preferences. But for bed sharers, versatility is essential (unless you both sleep in the exact same position.) The Saatva Classic strikes that perfect balance.
I hadn’t slept that well since I was a teenager
In fact, it scored full marks in our pressure relief tests, something no other mattress has done (no wonder we rate it as the best.) This makes it easier to avoid hip and joint pain, because you’re elevated but cushioned so your body weight is spread evenly across the bed.
In fact, Claire Davies, Sleep Editor, said after her first night on the Classic that she; “hadn’t slept that well since [she] was a teenager.”
Plus, it comes in three firmness options. If you prefer a softer feel, opt for the Plush Soft. If you like a harder bed, then the Firm will keep you comfortable. Looking for something in the middle? Luxury Firm is your best bet.

It’s supportive right up to the edge
Edge support is often overlooked but how stable the perimeter of your mattress is directly impacts the amount of sleep space you have, how easy it is to get in and out of the bed and whether you can sit on the side to get ready in the mornings and evenings.
We weren’t expecting edges ‘you could park a truck on’
Hybrid mattresses usually have better edge support than even the best memory foam mattresses because they can use reinforced steel coils at the perimeter. So, we were expecting good things from the Saatva Classic. But we weren’t expecting edges “you could park a truck on,” as Claire put it after sleeping 1,500 hours on the Saatva Classic.
In our Sleep Lab, we conducted a ‘roll off’ test to see how close to the edge we could sleep while still feeling stable. I was dangling more than two inches off the bed and I still felt supported. That’s when I knew the Saatva Classic was a winner.
This makes it one of the best mattresses for couples, as well as a great option for elderly sleepers who need help getting in and out of bed.

It keeps things cool
There’s nothing worse than a mattress that makes you hot and stuffy throughout the night (especially as we’re coming into heat-wave season.) But the Saatva Classic stays cool, thanks to an open hybrid structure that means loads of air can flow through the mattress at night.
No hot spots, no pooling of body heat
In fact, Claire is a chronic hot sleeper and said; “The Saatva is the only mattress I’ve tested that has felt consistently cool through the night — no hot spots, no pooling of body heat. Just a gloriously cool-touch surface.”
Not only does this make it much easier to sleep through the night, but as you won’t be tossing and turning looking for the cool spot, it can stop back pain flare-ups.

Should you invest in the Saatva Classic this Memorial Day?
This is the best deal in Saatva’s Memorial Day sale and one of our favorite savings overall. Why? Ultimately, the Saatva Classic is a mattress that suits the majority of sleepers, offering comfort and robust support.
The only slight downside is that it has a relatively low weight capacity at 600lbs. Heavier-bodied sleepers should consider the WinkBed Plus for a similar feel and a higher weight limit.
Memorial Day is a great time to invest in the Saatva Classic because we don’t see discounts bigger than this one. The $400 off a mattress online matches Saatva’s Black Friday deal, so you’re not going to get a lower price even if you wait throughout the year.
You’ll also get fantastic perks like a forever warranty, a 365-night sleep trial and white-glove delivery. This means you can sleep on the bed first and still get a full refund if you don’t find it comfortable — even a year later.
It’s a great deal and one worth snapping up while it lasts.
