Cooling and stomach-sleeper support for less

Allswell is Walmart‘s own bed-in-a-box brand and offers a lot for a low price in its signature hybrid, despite the fact hybrid mattresses are usually more expensive than all-foam models — impressive, huh?

Our reviewers found front sleeping to be the ideal position on this bed as the firmer-than-stated surface ensures the hips don’t dip out of alignment. Back sleeping was also well supported, but side sleepers would likely want something more cloud-like to prevent achy hips.

With a heatwave upon us, temperature control is at the front of a lot of mattress shoppers’ minds right now. Although this bed doesn’t have any premium cooling tech (with a $300 price tag, you can’t expect it to), there is gel-infused memory foam that absorbs and transfers heat away from the body, while springs allow air to circulate through the bed, providing a cooler sleep surface.

Our lead tester and seasoned mattress reviewer Alison Barretta says it feels like you’re “floating on top of the bed rather than sinking into it, which lessened the likelihood of overheating.”

The rest of our review panel found the Allswell comfortable for napping during a balmy August afternoon. Mild sleeper, approved. However, it may not be cool enough for chronic hot sleepers. If that’s you, you’re sure to find the right bed in our best cooling mattress guide.
