There’s still a bit more time to shop the Memorial Day sales and the mattress I’m telling my friends and family to buy is 27% off when you use the code TOMS27 at checkout. That brings the price of a queen Helix Midnight Luxe down to $1,824 at Helix, from an MSRP of $2,498. That beats Helix’s 25% off general access sale.

I’ve been sleeping on the Luxe on an off for the past two years. After testing it, and then retesting it in our studio lab, it’s secured its position in our guide to the best mattress you can shop online.

The Midnight Luxe is a luxury hybrid that’s superbly supportive for side sleepers but just as comfortable for back sleepers. That’s why it’s my top pick in the extended Memorial Day mattress sales; it’s a great choice for couples seeking a mattress for different sleep needs. Intrigued? Let’s take a look.

Why the Luxe is the mattress I recommend to everyone

I first tested the Helix Midnight Luxe during the spring of 2024 and was blown away how comfortable it was for side sleeping. Before, I would often wake up at night with achy hips and have to shift positions. But on the Luxe, the soothing level of pressure relief meant I can curl up on my side and stay there all night.

The Luxe is a 13.5″ breathable hybrid mattress with a naturally cooling Tencel cover wrapped over a plush pillow top. It’s this top layer of padding that cradles the touch-points of the mattress, helping to absorb any buildup of pressure.

Happily, my heavier back-sleeping husband is just as supported on his back as I am on my side (he groans in disappointment every time we have to swap the Luxe out for a new mattress we’re testing). We both feel that incredible support is down to the up to 1,000 individually wrapped coils which hold sleepers on the surface of the bed.

Yes, you will sink in — but just enough to prevent any buildup of pressure or pain. However, the slow-moving foams can make shifting positions a tiny bit difficult. So while it’s a great choice for both side and back sleepers, combi sleepers who like to wriggle from position to position to position will be better off on something a bit more responsive, like the Saatva Classic.

Its breathable hybrid design and moisture wicking Tencel cover means that you’re unlikely to overheat on the Luxe, which reflects both my hands-on experience and our temperature regulation lab tests. We awarded the Luxe a score of 4/5 in our thermal imaging tests, which is an excellent score.

We tested a standard version of the Luxe and rate is as one of the best cooling mattresses you can buy. However, as of last year there are now two cooling upgrade options for very hot sleepers; a GlacioTex cooling cover, and a GlacioTex Cooling cover and a CoolForce cooling layer.

Cooling, supportive and zoned lumbar support for back pain relief makes the Midnight Luxe my top recommendation in the extended Memorial Day sales.

Smaller budget? Try this deal instead…

The Luxe is always my top pick, but at $1,824 for a queen after discounts, it’s undoubtedly an investment. If you’re working with a smaller budget, this is my recommendation…
